detour in place starting wednesday january 21st
The intersection of Ogden and Ridgeland avenues will be partially closed starting, Wednesday, January 21st through Friday, January 23rd. The closure will allow the contractor to connect the new water main to the existing system.
The closure will be in effect from 9:00am - 3:00pm each day, and the intersection will fully reopen at the end of each day. Cars will be able to travel east and west through the intersection. The following detours will be in place during this time:

- Northbound on Ridgeland Avenue drivers can turn east or west onto Ogden Avenue
- Southbound on Ridgeland Avenue drivers must detour on Sinclair Avenue to Gunderson Avenue to access Ogden Avenue
- Eastbound and Westbound drivers can travel through the intersection using the split lane available to them
- Eastbound drivers can turn south onto Ridgeland Avenue but not north
- Westbound drivers should utilize East Avenue to travel north of Ogden Avenue

PROJECT CONTEXTThe study area is located along Ogden Avenue, also known as Route 66, stretching the entire limits of Berwyn. This corridor has a long history within Berwyn and Ogden Avenue is a main corridor within Berwyn, with the majority of land use being commercial. Berwyn’s Development Corporation recognizes Route 66/Ogden Avenue as one of its four districts, which also includes Roosevelt Avenue, Cermak Road, and The Depot District. A variety of businesses occupy space along Ogden Avenue, including auto related businesses, restaurants, retail and local businesses.

Existing Site Conditions
The City is coordinating several major improvements to be designed and constructed during the same time to minimize the duration of impacts to businesses and motorists and to maximize the use of available grant funds. Berwyn recognizes the balance between making infrastructure improvements and ensuring businesses thrive. Therefore, the goal is to make improvements that will upgrade the corridor without compromising mobility or functioning businesses.
